Homosexuality and Christanity

Afternoon Folks,

Today, we are talking about homosexuality and christianity. Mostly because a girl in her myspace account
wrote about it and asked people their opinions.  She wasn't being disrespectful..
but she wanted to know what most  "bornagains" thought of it. And well, the few that wrote,
disgusted me. Now, granted..they didn't write about how they wanted to kill all gays.
But just the fact that they are not good enough for heaven because of who they love?
That disgusts me. Basically their consensus was that they are not going to heaven.

I used to believe that line of reasoning also. I mean, the bible did basically say that  man
should not lie with man as with a woman..but it also says that you could sell your
daughter into slavery, kill a woman who was trying to defend her husband in a fight,
pay a few coins for a woman who loses her baby after being punched in the belly(sorry pro lifers),stone anyone who works on the sabbath(christians say it's sunday jews believe it's
friday night-saturday night..and others are just all around) and so on. I guess what I am trying to say is that if a person wants to use an argument for why gays can't go to heaven by using the bible, then you could also use it for the other things I have listed. But they won't because they would use an argument like this(why? because people in general, no matter what belief system rationalize what THEY THINK MATTERS away..and forget about the little guy):

But that was the old testement, and it was done away with in Christ.

Okay kid, but if that is true, then why the anti gay argument?

Well, because it's wrong.

Why?

Because the bible says so.

The bible also says that it is better to pluck out your own eyes than to sin with them. Do you look at porn?

*ashamed* yes.

Then why haven't you plucked out your eyes?

Because..Because I repented and..and well..it was a figurative saying!

Right, and setting homosexuals on fires isn't?

See what I mean? picking and choosing. Rationalizing what they want at they expense of others. The line of thinking? Gays are not like me, therefore they are evil and must be punished..how to get rid of them? hell! yes, let's burn them in hell.

Why am I picking on the poor Christians at this moment? Mostly because a week ago we find out that  the golden boy of  Christianity was having a tryst.  That's all.

Before you use your religion to beat others in the head and make them live a life that pleases you..grow the fuck up.
